Dr. Michael Butts is a proud father, a former police officer, a teacher, an assistant principal, an elected school board member, and a Democrat running for Superintendent of Public Instruction.
Dr. Butts left the police force when he realized we’ll never bend the arc of our children’s futures toward success and moral courage if we don’t reach them early—with access to excellent schools and qualified teachers.
What's at Stake
Like us, Dr. Butts has seen the Legislature starve public schools, siphon money into private schools, denigrate science, ban books, underpay teachers, and rewrite American history. Now Donald Trump’s jumping in with even more funding cuts, abolishing the Department of Education, and inflicting on us some of the cruelest, most divisive politics America’s ever seen.
Arizona’s children and schools don’t just need an administrator, they need a champion—a leader who values public education and free-thinking, and who’ll rally people to fight for them at the capitol. Dr. Michael Butts is the only candidate running clean. He’s the only candidate that’s beholden to no one, and as a people-powered candidate, he’ll never stop fighting…for us.
